Starting your Flea market
Are you like most people? Stuck in the same old mundane routine of a job that you really don't like, but need to survive?? Tired of the same old routine of getting up rushing out the door,(especially on cold mornings) just to fight traffic, spilling your coffee because Suzy Soccer Mom is too entwined in her cell phone conversation that she just veered her Big Ass Tank of a gas guzzling SUV in to your lane cutting you off? Then, to get to your under paid position at Lame Ass Inc. where your boss doesn't even know who you are, let alone appreciate anything you do? Sigh..... Well I been there done that, several times. And I'm tired of it. And after pondering around with the idea, Ive decided to give ..........Flea Marketing a try.
Heres My Idea.
Since currently I am un-employed, I need to come up with a way to make some extra cash. And to do so I have organized several Yard Sales. I have had moderate to much Success that I would like to try the big leagues in the junk jockey business. I reviewed a few articles on small business ownership and making profits, and combining them with the skills and knowledge I have acquired in business management, I have a plan that I think will work pretty good..........
1. First things first, I need to find a flea market where i could set up. then I will need to scope out the flea market basically shop and observe. Take notes on set ups, and which ones draw in the most people, and what they sell.
2. When I get that all squared away, I'll have to rent a booth for around $300.00 monthly and begin my set up. I figure at first my inventory will consist of mostly items I am willing to part with that will make money, mixed in with some useless junk, and a few big items. As I make more and gain experience, I can add inventory from wholesalers and increase my profits. but that is down the road...
3. Once that is all set up, I'll make some business cards and set up a website to increase business and profits as well to post current events and specials. (sometimes people will donate items to you to sell) this is a good way to make a sale. ( they donate something I can offer a deal for them) this increases profits.
After all this is done I can open up my booth, and hopefully I will have a creative name and a set up that people will be intrigued by. I hope this will work out for me and hopefully if you are looking to try this I hope this is good advice for you. I have the desire to do this and I believe this will turn me up a profit as well as turning strangers into friends. I love to meet people and chit chat with them into a sale that is.... He he he. And to make someones day rather I make a sale or not, these are words of wisdom you keep in mind, make a good impression they will come back.
I actually like flea marketing my self and have found some neat things and nice people. I also had a few bad experiences too, one that sticks out is when I went to traders world..I stopped by this booth that sold Genesis games one in particular, Earth Worm Jim. I wanted it and was willing to pay $15. for it but I wanted to make sure it worked. The jockey there was so rude, and wouldn't test it for me that I actually walked away from that sale. screw him, I ain't giving him my money. But any ways I also have had great experiences, I got a deal on a really cool set of drums back in 2000, awesome with cymbals and throne!! all for $175. Flea Marketing is fun and you still can find cool treasures. With all that said and done, I think I will turn in and hit the hay for the night. Please leave a comment, It will help my blog become better.....
Happy Sales,
Krazkay
